is difficult to think about what humans will look like 1,000 years from now on, not only because of the thousands of science fiction movies that are trying to portray the future of humanity but also because we are constantly outpacing our previous evolution.
- About 10,000 years ago we have developed our tolerance to drinking cow milk.
- 150 years ago The average high of a human being had increased by 10 centimeters.
- In the last 65 years, we managed to prolong the life expectancy of the average human by 20 years!
- In the last 20 years, the poverty line had been lowered by 50%.
This just shows the potential that we have and what is even more interesting is that there is so much more potential to unlock. A famous scientific fact that has gone viral has taught the world that we only use 10% of our brain, so think about what we would be able to achieve with the rest.
How powerful are humans?
There is this belief that one-day artificial intelligence will take over the world, however, I believe that artificial intelligence will never match the potential of a human being.
For example, in 2014 researchers wanted to show the power of the human brain. For this experiment researchers used the K computer from Japan which at the time was known as the most powerful computer in the world. The idea was to see how much computational power does it take as well as how much time to process a one-second human thought.
It took over 705,024 processors, 1.4 petabytes of ram (1 petabyte = 1 million GB), and 40 minutes for the world’s most powerful computer to process something that the brain can do in a second with only 10% cerebellum capacity.
Although, human interaction with robots and technology will become much closer at a social level. In 1000 years we are expected to develop AI that will reach the ability of human connection but this is a very debatable topic.
So what will humans evolve to?
Current researchers in this field reckon that in 1,000 years the human body will be filled with nanobots that will ensure the health of the human body, neutralizing any bad toxins or diseases.
In contemporary science, people believed that the brain has an exploration date of 120 or so years but in more recent research it has been shown that our brains can actually live over a lot more than that. The brain is the organ that will age the slowest out of all human parts.
This means that in the future the human may become what we describe in this presentation as a cyborg that will replace certain parts of the body or organs with artificial ones that could actually enhance the life expectancy for everyone.
These nanobots will also exist around people, sustaining the environment and improving it, offering humans more time to work on themselves. Despite many depictions of future lives where everyone becomes lazy and fat, scientists predict that due to the help of these nanobots we will all be very fit.
The technology that we use today such as the smartphone will become a part of us along with other tech gadgets that make our lives easier. Looking at the social behavior of generation Z, the level of interaction with technology has become higher than the level of interaction with other humans, showing the strong connection with technology and the reason why it will be integrated into our bodies.
As much as people hate technological advancements, it does make our lives easier, meaning that there will be a high chance for our bodies to be made up of 50% tech that can enhance all of our abilities without any training. Some may prefer to show their upgrades whilst others may keep the natural look.
Due to the prolonged exposure to radiation from the sun, our skin pigment will start to darken making the whole population reach a potential similar skin color in the future. So by that time if we still haven’t figured out that there is no gain in racism maybe this change will help put a stop to it.
Body enhancements that will change appearances may also become the new fashion such as changing the shape of the head, the structure of the body, and so on. Scientists predict that medical checkups will be a thing of the past and the only medical checkup you will need is a software update just like our phones.
Language barriers will become a thing of the past as the world will eventually evolve to using a single language with multiple dialects or maybe we will get far enough to start using telepathy.
With higher intelligence, it is expected that judgment will be also left in the past, making people look more and more similar to one another and only be differentiated by a name or maybe even a manufacturer’s code…
If I were to state these predictions 20 years ago I would have been told by most of you that I watched too many science fiction movies, but I hope that in today’s society we can all open our eyes to the future, technological advancements, and the unpredictability it brings with it.
