atherine the Great, born as Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg, was the most renowned and the longest-ruling female leader of Russia, reigning from 1762 until 1796. In 1762, Catherine successfully staged a palace coup and declared herself the ruler of Russia. She was officially crowned as Catherine II, also known as Catherine the Great. During her reign, she worked tirelessly to modernize and westernize Russia, bringing in new ideas and technologies from Europe. She also expanded the Russian Empire, conquering new territories and increasing the country’s power and influence on the world stage.

Catherine’s reign was marked by a number of significant accomplishments, including the establishment of a new legal code, the expansion of the Russian Empire, and the promotion of education and culture.
